Starting in 2021, Google will consider “page experience” in Search results on the platform. While no current action is required for sites to update for this, it is important for companies to take into account all aspects of their website as it relates to user experience (relative content, website load speed, optimized for mobile, etc.).
The page experience signal measures many aspects of how users perceive the experience of interacting with a web page. Factors that determine a good page experience are:
- Load time
- Interactivity
- The stability of content as it loads
- Mobile-friendly
- Safe browsing
- HTTPS
- No intrusive interstitials
While more updates are to follow in the coming months, Google Webmasters Blog says that high-quality content on a page will override a great page experience. Based on this information, it is clear that creating original, high-quality content for your brand is critical to driving users (repeat and new) to the website. Consider blogs, news and updates and video content to provide good and relevant experiences for users.
