The Client

Inspired by the Shaker Heights spirit of quality, craftsmanship and entrepreneurialism, the Van Aken District (VAD) is the kind of neighborhood you dream of – offering a unique blend of urban and suburban lifestyles in a city deeply rooted in history, culture and diversity. It’s a place that inspires gathering and comes to life through the connections of residents, business owners, retailers and restaurateurs.

The developer, RMS Investment Corp., has been a client of shark&minnow since 2017.

Abstract

After years of planning and development, the Van Aken District in Shaker Heights, Ohio finally became a reality and opened its doors to the public in late 2018. While general awareness in Shaker Heights of the construction and development of the Van Aken District was high, the rest of Northeast Ohio was not aware of the new mixed-use space. Not only did the VAD want to raise awareness in Northeast Ohio about its opening, but also to compete against other mixed-use spaces in the area.
